RBI constitutes IRWG
The RBI on 14th July 2016 formed IRWG (Inter- Regulatory Working Group) in India. It is formed for studying all Fintech & Digital Banking related issues. The Fin-tech innovations have grown enormously over years. Their interactions with financial institutions have also increased. This group consists of 13 members’ panel. Sudarshan Sen heads this group. The group will be submitting a preliminary report within 6 months. It will understand the market of Fin-tech start-ups. It will also assess the risks and opportunities involving these start-ups. It will analyse the innovations and their usages in optimising the Indian financial sector. The challenges and implications of the services offered by the start-ups will also be accessed. Other assessments will include cross-country practices, regulatory responses, global markets etc.
MP first-ever Indian state with Happiness Department
MP became the first Indian state to set up a Happiness Department. The announcement came on 15th July 2016. This department will be acting as Knowledge centre on happiness. The cabinet will also be establishing Happiness Institute. The initial budget for this project is INR 3 Crore & 60 lakh. It will be identifying and defining efficiency and happiness parameters. It will also prescribe activities & action plan for achieving happiness. Mind-set of the state’s people will be assessed regularly. It will also compile & publish surgery reports on happiness. The department will take steps to improve the happiness level of the state. It will be a long-standing process by the state.
Margaret Alva releases autobiography
Margaret Alva released her new autobiography ‘Courage & Commitment’. The book narrates Alva’s 45 year career with Indian Prime Ministers. She has worked with four Prime Ministers in India. They were Manmohan Singh, Narasimha Rao, Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. It also narrates her transition into Governor from politician. The book also narrates her career’s controversies, triumphs and trials. It throws light on Alva’s tiffs with Sanjay Gandhi. The book discusses Alva’s role in the last campaign of Rajiv Gandhi. It also discusses her involvement in JHI (Jain Hawala Investigation) during her tenure with CBI. It throws light on the seat manipulation by her party and her subsequent resignation. Insights into lives of international and national politicians have also been discussed.
TASL and Bell Helicopter inked deal
Bell Helicopter and TASL inked a deal on 14th July 2016. They will be working together in India. It will involve supporting the defence and aviation-modernization initiative. This agreement was signed under the ‘Make in India’ scheme. Bell Helicopter is a Textron based company. TASL is the Defence and Aerospace arm of Tata Group. Bell and TASL (Tata Advanced System) will be jointly developing government and commercial products. The agreement will include assembly capabilities and potential production. R&D programs will be included for improving the industrial capabilities. TASL is both a holding and operating organisation. TASL is involved in missile systems and radar systems. It also looks into the control and command systems. BAC (Bell Aircraft Corporation) was established in 1935.
