Aadhaar-linked e-Signature scheme launched


On 3rd August, Aadhaar-linked e-Signature scheme was launched. The objective was digitalizing documents. The launch was done by online legal- documentation website LegalDesk.com. The scheme is named eSignDesk. It will allow individuals to digitally sign documents from remote areas. There are more than 1 billion holders of Aadhaar Card. Digitalization of signature is expected to save money, paper and time. It is a Union Government initiative. It is built on Aadhaar platform. It required registered mobile numbers of the users which is linked with Aadhaar card. will provide the service. A test run will be done for first 1000 customers. The signed documents will be valid in India only. It will also help in deterring fraud.



RBI launched Sachet portal


Governor of RBI (Reserve Bank of India) Raghuram Rajan launched Sachet Portal. It was launched on 4th August 2016. The objective is to curb illegal collection of money. The portal link is sachet.rabi.org.in. It will help individuals in attaining information regarding various entities. These entities can be related to accepting deposits, lodging complaints. It will also give information on illegal deposit acceptance by dishonest entities. The website will be presented in vernacular languages. It will benefit people across different place of the nation. It will keep a check in activities related to unlawful collection of money. There will be space for lodging complaints in the portal.


Nita Ambani became 1st India woman member of IOC


Nita Ambani on 4th August 2016 was selected an IOC member. She became the 1st Indian woman to receive this post. She is RF’s (Reliance Foundation) founder chairperson. It is also a noted promoter of sports. Her selection was done during the 129th Olympic session at Rio, Brazil. She also owns cricket team Mumbai Indians. She founded the ISLF (Indian Super League Football) tournament. She will be serving the IOC until she attains age 70.


IOC to add 5 sports in the Tokyo Olympics 2020


IOC will add 5 sports in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. IOC (International Olympic Committee) made the announcement on 3rd August 2016. These sports are Skateboard, Surfing, Climbing Sports, Karate and Softball/Baseball. The decision took place during the 129th IOC session at Rio. The proposal was given by the OOC (Olympic Organizing Committee) for Tokyo 2020. These additional sports will not have any effect in the existing event or athlete quotas. Also, the scheme is not binding on the host cities in future. There will be total 474 athletes and 18 events after inclusion.


Youssef Chahed elected as Tunisia Prime Minister


Youssef Chahed is elected as Tunisia Prime Minister. The name was announced by President of Tunisia Beji C. Essebsi on 3rd August 2016. Chahed was appointed after Habib Essid was ousted by the Parliament. There was a no-confidence vote because of his mishandling of security and economic reforms. Chahed previously served as Local Affairs Minister for Tunisia. Youssef is a specialist in agricultural science. He is also an academic. He contributed in conception & delivery of CBS (capacity building systems) between the US & Tunisia.
