CTET Exam Syllabus 2016 – Latest UptoDate


The CTET Exam is a wonderful opportunity for candidates to make a career in teaching students upto class VIII. However, they are required to appear for a written test and an interview before they can actually have their hands on this rewarding job. The 10th Edition of CTET Exam will be held on September 18, 2016 and interested candidates must be looking forward to give it one more try and make it to the list of successful candidates. One aspect which remains valuable throughout is the syllabus.


Syllabus for CTET Exam 2016


Candidates who are appearing for this exam are required to keep in mind that there will be two papers. Paper I would be applicable for those candidates who are willing to become a teacher for classes I to V and Paper II would be applicable for those candidates who are willing to become a teacher for classes VI to VIII. Irrespective of the paper, the following areas as considered as vital:

Both the paper have a similar scope, but the level of toughness increases in Paper II as it for senior classes. It is not manadatory for candidates to appear for both the exam. Candidates possess a will to appear in either of the paper, but most of the time, candidates do take a double chance.


A short briefing over each subject is given below:


1) Mathematics: Geometry, Weight, Time, Patterns, Money, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction, Solids around us, Division, Data Handling, Numbers, etc.


2) Learning and Pedagogy- Process of a child’s thinking, process of teaching children and handling them, Motivation, Cognition and emotions, etc.


3) Environment Studies- Family and Friends, Food, Shelter, Water, Travel, Things we make and do, etc.


4) Language I- Language Comprehension, test of language skills, remedial teaching, etc.


5) Language II- Comprehension, Pedagogy of Language Development


6) Child Development & Pedagogy- Development of relationship with children, socialization process, gender roles, Social world and children, etc.


7) Understanding children with special needs- Art of communication

Things to remember:


  • The CTET Exam is for candidates who wish to become a teacher of Class I – V or Class VI – VIII. The scope doesn’t includes teaching classes higher than VIII.

  • Candidates who appear for Paper I will be eligible for teaching classes I – V and their selection will depend on the exam result and performance in the interview.

  • Candidates who appear for Paper II will be eligible for teaching classes VI – VIII and their selection process would be similar to Paper I.

  • Each candidate is required to register for the exam beforehand and on the portal-

  • Failure to bring the admit card on the day of exam will result in candidates elimination. A candidate cannot give the CTET exam without a valid admit card.

  • The year 2016 has already witnessed the 9th Edition of the Exam help in February 2016.
