Rajasthan becomes the first state in India to introduce MWS (minimum wages schemes) for its part-time workers


During July 2016 first week, Rajasthan became the the first state in India to introduce MWS (minimum wages schemes) for its part-time workers. Furthermore, the LDR (Labour Department of Rajasthan) also generated a notice on this regard. As per this notice, any person working for four hours or less in day is allowed 50 percent of the prescribed minimum wages. With this notice part-time workers are now considered under the MWA (Minimum Wages Act, 1948) law of the constitution. It is a parliamentary act that sets minimum wages limit for skilled as well as unskilled labours. This act is statutory but not legally binding.


Debshankar Mukhopadhyay appointed as Zee Learn CEO


Debshankar Mukhopadhyay was appointed as Zee Learn CEO (Chief Executive Officer) on 6th July 2016. Zee learn is an education branch of the Essel Group. Debshankar’s prior job was as Educational, Insurance and Financial Services Sales Head at the MGES (Manipal Global Education Services). Furthermore, Debshankar has also worked in various firms such as DHL, ZILS (Zee Interactive Learning Systems), Scholastic India and Western Union.


TRAI launched Myspeed App for measuring RTMIS (real-time mobile internet speed)


The TRAI (Telecom Regulatory of India) announced the launch of ‘MySpeed’ mobile application on 5th July 2016. The application will enable measuring the RTMIS (real-time mobile internet Speed) of consumers. The main objective behind this application launch is enabling customers to understand the network experiences of their service provided as well as other. This will help them in selecting the most preferred mobile operator across their vicinity. This will be the 1st application launched under DII (Digital India Initiative). This app is free for download and available for only Android smartphones at present.


SBI launched the SBI Mingle (social media banking platform)


The SBI (State Bank of India) launched the SBI Mingle, a banking platform on 1st July 2016. It is a social-media banking platform intended for Twitter and Facebook users. Chairman of SBI Arundhati Bhattacharya launched this platform during the celebration of 61st SBI day, observed each year on 1st July. This banking platform will enable customers of SBI to access numerous banking services and facilities via social platforms. Furthermore, these services will only require a simple registration process.


Union Government launched the NGHM (National Green Highways Mission)


The Union Government on 1st July 2016 launched that NGHM (National Green Highways Mission). The inauguration was done by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari (Road Transport, Highways and Shipping). This initiative will include a plantation drive across 1500 km National Highways stretch. Furthermore, the initial budget allocated for this project is about INR 300 crore. Additionally, these projects will general hue number of jobs. It can also positively impact the rural and agricultural economy.
