2nd Edition of Anti-Drug Working Group Meeting Concluded


On July 9 2016, the 2nd edition of Anti-Drug Working Group meeting was held at New Delhi. The objective of the meeting was to raise the awareness to go against drugs. The event was organized by NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) and had member of the BRICS countries. Nations to participate were- South Africa, Brazil, China and Russia. The event discussed issues such as illegal cultivation of Coca bush, Maritime drug trafficking and illegal financing of drug trafficking. Prior to this event, the first edition was held in Moscow, Russia in the year 2015. India will now host the 8th edition of BRICS summit in Goa in October 2016.


Warsaw concludes NATO Summit 2016


The biannual summit for NATO took place in Warsaw, Poland and was concluded on July 9 2016. The summit witnessed the presence of Government Heads from the member nations. Personalities such as US President Barack Obama was also present in the summit. Some of the discussed matters in the summit related to reformation of NATO’s policy on partnership and enlargement. The previous summit was held in the United Kingdom in the year 2014.


Amal Dutta passed away


The former East Bengal player and one of the most celebrated coaches in Indian Football, Amal Dutta passed away on July 10 2016. The reason for his death was old age complications. Amal Dutta was known as the first full-time football coach in the professional level for India and introduced diamond system. In a career that spread over decades, he started playing football for East Bengal and later on became a coach of Railways after retirement. His list of achievements also includes coaching the Indian Football Team.


Wimbledon Singles Title (Men) 2016 goes to Andy Murray


The great tennis player from Britain, Andy Murray clinched Wimbledon’s Single Title 2016 on 10th July 2016. The tournament was hosted from 27 June to 10 July and witnessed the participation of players from all over the world. In the finals, Andy Murray had beaten Milos Raonic (Canada) in sets of 6-4 [Set I], 7-6(3)[Set II] and 7-6(2)[Set III]. With this win, Murray won his second title in Wimbledon Singles Title (Men) along with third Grand Slam. Aged at 29-year, Andy Murray is currently the world number two. He also became the first British to win 2 Wimbledon Titles after Fred Perry in 1935.


British Grand Prix 2016 win by Lewis Hamilton


Lewis Hamilton won the 2016 edition of British Grand Prix in July 10 2016. The Formula One race took place in the United Kingdom at Silverstone Circuit. The win gave Hamilton his fourth British Grand Prix win since 2008. His win came in the following years- 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2016. With three consecutive wins in the last 3 years, Hamilton is closing on to the top rank. He also claimed the Australian Grand Prix 2016 on July 3 2016. The British Grand Prix also witnessed Nico Rosberg (Germany) in the third place and Max Verstappen in the second place.
