Tokyo appoints 1^st female governor Yuriko Koike

Yuriko Koike (Former Defense Minister- Japan) was appointed as Tokyo’s governor. She becomes the 1^st woman governor in Japan to attain this position. She garnered almost 3 million election votes and defeated her opponent. Koike’s opponents Shuntaro Torigoe and Hiroya Masuda were defeated via very wide margin. Yuriko is a famous Japanese Politician. She acted as Japan’s HR (House of Representatives) in 1993-2016. During this time, she resigned and became Tokyo governor election candidate. In 1992, she was introduced to the Councilors House as JNP (Japan New Party) member. She has also acted as Defense Minister in 2007.

India will host KWC (Kabaddi World Cup), October 2016

IKF (International Kabaddi Federation) announced India as KWC (Kabaddi World Cup) October 2016 host. The announcement was made by IKF on 31^st July 2016. This world cup will feature 12 nations. The date announcement will be made later. The tournament participants are from all over the globe. They include UK, Canada, USA, India, Australia, Pakistan, Poland, Iran, Kenya, Japan, Korea and Bangladesh. In 1990 Kabaddi was made an Asian Games’ part. Since then, India has grabbed all gold medals. Star Sports has been selected as the official broadcaster of the world cup. JS Gehlot is the President of IKF. India is the origin of Kabaddi sports. It is Asia’s one of most popular events. Other than whistle, the sport does not require any equipment.

Andhra Pradesh and Japan signs MoU

On 30^th July Japan and Andhra Pradesh signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding). The MoU was signed for development of food value-chain in AP. As per this agreement, Japan’s MAFF (Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) will boost direct investment. The investment will come from Japanese industries in related fields. Some of these companies will be from food-related and agriculture sector. The MoU will also help in establishing industrial food parks and cold chains. AP is a premium agri-business oriented state. It majorly contributes in horticulture, agriculture, fisheries, and poultry, dairy & marine production.

Lewis Hamilton grabs German F1 Grand Prix 2016

On 31^st July 2016, Lewis Hamilton grabbed German F1 Grand Prix 2016. He is a Mercedes player from United Kingdom. The event took place in Hockenheimring. This was Hamilton’s 4^th consecutive win. His previous wins were 2016 Australian GP, 2016 British GP& 2016 Hungarian GP. Till now, only five drivers have 2 German GPs in their kitties. Hamilton has joined this league. It is a yearly automobile race and has been held since 1926.

Syed Nayeemuddin conferred with MBR (Mohun Bagan Ratna)

On 29^th July 2016, Syed Nayeemuddin was conferred with MBR (Mohun Bagan Ratna). The announcement came from MB (Mohun Bagan) Football Club. Syed is the only Dronacharya FC (Football Coach) of India. He was chosen for his significant contribution towards this club & nation as both coach and player. He is the 16^th MBR award recipient. In 1997, he became India’s coach. Under his coach ship, Indian won the SAFFC (South Asian Football Federation Cup). He also reached semi-finals in Nehru Cup.
