Former team coach of Indian football, Syed Nayeemuddin, conferred with MBR (Mohun Bagan Ratna)


On 15th June 2016, Mohun Bagan announced that Former team coach of Indian football, Syed Nayeemuddin, will be conferred with MBR (Mohun Bagan Ratna). Syed is the only Indian football coach to receive Dronacharya award. Syed was awarded with this honor for his significant contribution to this club and the nation both as coach and player. He was appointed Indian Football coach in 1997. Syed has won both Dronacharya Award and Arjuna Award for football, making him the only sports-personality to have achieved that. He was also the captain of the INFT (Indian National Football Team) which won bronze at the Asian Games 1970.


Rio 2016 unveils Official slogan of Olympic & Paralympic Games for Rio 2016 unveiled


On 14th June 2016, the organizing committee for Rio 2016 unveiled official slogan of Olympic & Paralympic Games. The slogan, ‘A New World’, was launched by IOC (International Olympic Committee) Thomas Bach during a ceremony at the Olympic Park (Barra da Tijuca), Brazil. Apart from the slogan, the IOC also launched designs for the bronze, silver and gold medals for 2888 position that will be chased by 10000 athletes. This new slogan will be front & center message to be transmitted across the globe during the lead up as well as during 2016 Games.


WDCD (World Day to Combat Desertification) 2016 observed


On 17th June WDCD (World Day to Combat Desertification) 2016 was observed. The theme for this year’s WDCD was, ‘Inclusive cooperation for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality’. Also, the slogan for this year was ‘Protect Earth. Restore Earth. Engage People.’ The objective of the theme is focusing on achievement of LDN (Land Degradation Neutrality) which will lead to the larger objective of achieving SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Also, the slogan also addresses the significance of comprehensive cooperation and participation towards achieving LDN. The WDCD is being celebrated since 1995 with the objective of promoting public awareness for combating desertification and drought effects.


RAPID, a five-point charter outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the tax administrators,


RAPID; R stands for Revenue; A stands for Accountability; P stands for Probity; I stands for Information; D stands for Digitalization. On 16th June 2016, Narendra Modi launched a new scheme RAPID for the tax officials. This scheme was launched during the inauguration of RGS (Rajasva Gyan Sangam), Annual two-day conference of STAa (Senior Tax Administrators). This scheme will support in sensitizing people to respect rules of law and avoid evading taxes.


Sunil Mittal appointed as the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) chairman


On 15th June 2016, Bharti Enterprises founder and Chairman Sunil Mittal was appointed as the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) chairman. ICC is a Paris-based International commerce committee and the voting took place in Brazil. He will be the 51st ICC chairman and 3rd Indian Business personality to be voted as ICC chief. Mittal is another Indian businessman who became ICC chairman in the past. ICC is the biggest business organization in the Globe with more than 6.5 million business members across 130 nations.
