WBD (World Blood Donors) Day 2016 observed

On 14^th June 2016, WBDD (World Blood Donors Day) 2015 was celebrated across the globe. The theme for this year’s WBDD campaign was ‘Blood Connects us all’. This theme throws significant light on the common connection and bonds all individuals share through their blood. Also, this year’s WBDD slogan is ‘Share Life, give blood’. The focus of this slogan is on voluntary blood donation systems. These schemes play a vital part in encouraging individuals to promote community cohesion and care for each other. The WBDD was first established in the year 2004. This day is also celebrated as Karl Landsteiner’s birth anniversary, known for distinguishing blood groups for the first time in 1990.

Lewis Hamilton grabs 2016 CGP (Canada Grand Prix) of Formula-1

On 12^th June 2016, Mercedes Driver from Britain grabbed the Formula-1 CGP (Canada Grand Prix) Trophy. He defeated Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari Driver during the final round that was held at Montreal, Canada. This was Hamilton’s 5^th career win and second consecutive. His previous records include wins in 2015, 2012, 2010 and 2007. He has won the Formula-1 World Championships three times in 2015, 2014 and 2008. This year, Hamilton also won the MGP (Monaco Grand Prix) on 29^th May 2016. He is also the most successful Formula-1 driver from Britain.

Government of Telangana to establish pharmaceutical city in Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy districts

On 10^th June 2016, the Government of Telangana decided to establish pharmaceutical city in Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy districts. This Pharma city will be built on 12500 land acres across the Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy districts of Telangana. Traditionally, Telangana has been known as India’s capital for bulk drugs as about one-tired of India’s total production (in value terms) comes from Telangana. In order to maintain the leading status in this sector, the government has decided to set up this facility with most modern equipment and state-of-the art infrastructure.

WEAAD (World Elder Abuse Awareness Day) observed

On 15^th June 2016, WEAAD (World Elder Abuse Awareness Day) observed across the glove. This day is celebrated with the objective of voicing concern against the suffering and abuse inflicted on old people across the world. To observe this day, various events are conducted across the world for raising awareness about elder abuse as well as promote ways to fight such abuse. By the year 2025, it is estimated that the world population of 60-plus individuals will reach 1.2 billion. Elder abuse has become a serious social abuse and because of lack of any appropriate action or law, it is not being controlled now.

Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar inaugurates CLTS (Child Labour Tracking System)

On 12^th June 2016, Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar inaugurated the CLTS (Child Labour Tracking System). The objective of this system will be to track the rescued child labours for their correct rehabilitation. Apart from this, it was also announced that a committee will be set up for implementing the demands of children which will be headed by the Chief Secretary. As per the system, every child rescued under this program will get a sum of Rupees 25000 from the CM Relief Fund.
