SBI PO Exam 2016 Exam Structure
Phase – I – Preliminary Examination – 100 Marks – Composite Time 1 Hour
- English – 30 Questions – 30 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude – 35 Questions – 35 Marks
- Reasoning Ability – 35 Questions – 35 Marks
Phase – II – Main Examination
The exam is divided into sections, namely, objective type and descriptive type. The Objective type section consists of MCQs will gives the candidates a chance to select the right answer from the given options. On the other hand, descriptive-type consists of writing for the given questions. Given below is the marks distribution.
(i) Objective Test -200 Marks – 3 hours
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 45 Questions – 60 Marks – 60 Minutes
- Data Analysis & Interpretation – 35 Questions – 60 Marks – 45 Minutes
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness – 40 Questions – 40 Marks – 35 Minutes
- English Language – 35 Questions – 40 Marks – 40 Minutes
(ii) Descriptive Test – 50 Marks – 30 Minutes – Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay)
Phase – III – Group Discussion (20 Marks) & Interview (30 Marks)

1) Reasoning
Reasoning is one of the most scoring sections of this exam. Though the syllabus for reasoning includes a number of chapters, it wouldn’t take much time in understanding the chapters and solving the respective problem. Sections such as Input-Output, Seating & Arrangement, Coding- Decoding are very scoring as the level of questions are easy. After having given the objective-type exam, the candidates are required to appear for a Descriptive-Type exam where they are asked to handle questions by typing the answers on the keyboard. The syllabus for this examination includes the following areas:
